Some Kundalini Yoga kriyas can be very surprising!

Out of nowhere they can suddenly make you do things such as strange poses, unusual movements, atypical breathing patterns or any other kind of exercise, that truly takes you aback and make you say! “Wow! What was that about?”

One day during my Yoga teaacher training, a classmate who was giving the class told us “And now, laugh to yourselves!”. We stood motionless for a second, before starting to laugh. And the one who laughed the hardest was our teacher Prem Kaur. She started with a deep, resounding laughter so joyful and contagious, that those of us who had begun by force, ended up roaring freely with laughter at hearing this wonderful sound.

Eventually, we all gave in to this raucous laughter!

And to tell you the truth, laughing on the spot like that was not easy for me to do. But, as “the more resistance you have, the more you need to give of yourself and trust in the wisdom of the masters who designed those kriyas” I realized I had to try it.

This laughter exercise is very interesting because it has much more powerful effects on us, than one might initially realize.

First of all, it forces you to go beyond your mind (especially your negative mind which always wants to control everything!). Fear becomes ridiculous.

Secondly, it helps you to completely relax and feel instantly better, thanks to the hormones released in your body.

You reach a lovely state of wellbeing.

In fact, we should probably laugh a lot more than we do, instead of remaining trapped inside our thoughts.

So I invite you to laugh… starting right now!
